Sandro Silva

One of the fastest rising DJs out there by far is this young man, Sandro Silva. After being taken under the dutch electro wing of Laidback Luke, this young star is rising to the top! With play by Tiesto, Sander van Doorn, David Guetta, and Sebastian Ingrosso to name a few, he is going no where but up! You may recognize him from his many remixes out there, and in particular the current hit “Epic” he made with Quintino. We got a chance to do an interview with Sandro, and here is what he had to say:

Q: What was your reaction to learning about Laidback Luke had wanted to help you at the beginning of your career?
A: It felt like a really big step and gave me a lot of motivation to reach my goals I had planned for myself. It is a honor someone like him is willing to help you at such a young age!

Q: What was the first thing you did when you heard your song was an Essential Choice on Pete Tong’s BBC radio show?
A: That was amazing to hear, I couldn’t believe it at the time because I was just only 16 years old at the time. When I heard that it’s really big to be chosen as an essential choice, it made me smile even more!

Q: Which Artist(s) inspired/inspires you?
A: A lot of artists inspire me. From David Guetta to Ryan Leslie. I’m getting inspiration from all kinds of producers and artists, whether it’s dance music or not.

Q: What is your favorite city to play at in the US?
A: That’s a hard question, because every city is amazing to play in the USA. If I had to choose, I think it would be Hollywood, Los Angeles. Insane!

Q: How would you describe your sound?
A: It’s a combination of different elements, I try to be different with each track. It’s powerful, energetic but at the same time it’s also euphoric.

Q: What do you look for in a track?
A: I try to look for the ‘big explosion’, that’s how I call the drop in a track. It has to be really big for me, it has to give me goosebumps.

Q: What is your favorite track at the moment?
A: My favorite track at the moment is Gareth Emery – Tokyo. Great track, euphoric and with a big explosion ;)

Q: Which is your favorite venue to play at?
A: There are lots, but The Voyeur, San Diego was really nice. Crowd was crazy!

Q: Which gig has been your all time favorite? Why?
A: I think it was at Ibiza, Privilege. I did a 3 hours set and every single track I played was going nuts, for 3 hours long. That incredible!

Q: What was the strangest gig you have ever played?
A: My strangest gig, hmm that’s a hard question! I think I didn’t really had that experience so far!

Q: What event would be your dream event to play at and why?
A: That’s without a doubt Sensation White. I always looked up to the dj’s that played there for the last couple years and it’s a big event.

Q: What has been your favorite song/remix that you have worked on?
A: I think it’s Calvin Harris and Kelis with Bounce. That original hook is really great, and it’s great to work with such great vocals from a vocalist like Kelis.

Q: Can you tell us about any future plans or upcoming work?
A: We have lined up a series of new tracks, that are gonna explode in 2012. All I have to say is, watch out for it!
